I'm an aspiring experimental composer / improviser / theorist and I go for anything microtonal / justly-tuned / abstract / progressive.
I almost always mix tracks with their full dynamic range. I also mix them to sound best in their original form--you should turn off all audio enhancements (like EQ) while listening.
